ide() function

ide(f) or i(f)
is used to take a copy of a pedigree factor f and fit it without the genetic relationship covariance. This facilitates fitting a second animal effect. Thus, to form a direct, maternal genetic and maternal environment model, the maternal environment is defined as a second animal effect coded the same as dams. viz.
