    Animals:Birds were laying hens chosen at random from nine genetic lines (4 Rhode Island Red and 5 White Leghorn type).
     Breeds associated:
    Design:Birds were genotyped for 1022 SNPs and analyzed for immune traits.
    Analysis:First, an association study was performed without accounting for relationships between animals. Selected SNPs from this analysis were analyzed in more detail using a mixed model and taking into account additive genetic relationships among animals.
