  •  QTL Experiment in Brief
Animals:Four inbred White Leghorn chicken lines were used. Parent birds were maintained under SPF conditions and were confirmed to be free of Salmonella.
     Breeds associated:
    n/a
Design:Resistance at 1 week of age was assessed 5 weeks after oral inoculation of Samonella enteritidis strain 1009. Between 5 and 7 chickes per line were slaughtered each week until 7 weeks post inoculation and their total caeca cultured for Salmonella.
Analysis:Sequences of the microsatellites prviously described were used in this study. For the F2 cross and the backcross, selected individuals were respectively grnotyped for a total of 199 and 177 markers.
