QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | Chickens either from a full-sib advanced intercross line used to map QTLRs affecting MD resistance produced by intercrossing two White Leghorn lines (F6), or from eight elite commercial egg production lines representing White Leghorn, White Plymouth Rock, and Rhode Island Red. |
Breeds associated:
|
Design: | Birds were genotyped using the Affymetrix 600K chicken SNP array, and markers on GGZ were analyzed for association with Marek's Disease susceptibility. |
Analysis: | In the F6 population, QTLRs were mapped using the JMP SNP-trait association trend test. For the eight elite lines, males with high or low daughter MD mortality were selected and used to create DNA pools, and QTLs were identified within lines. |
