  •  QTL Experiment in Brief
Animals:INRA401 flock, a Romanov (prolific breed) x Berrichon du Cher (meat breed), which has not been selected for wool traits. Phenotypic traits examined in a mid-side wool sample were: staple length and for fibre diameter, the mean and coefficient of var
     Breeds associated:
Design:690 ewes were crossed with 30 rams yielding 31 to 45 progeny per family. Forty microsatellites covering 20 of the 26 autosomes were typed, covering a total length of 600cM. Chromosomes 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 18 and 26 were represented by only 1 marker.
Analysis:Data was analysed using a linear model that took into account variance resulting from sex, batch, age class and birth-suckling status. Monte Carlo-Markov Chain method in CRIMAP used all pedigree and marker information available.
    Software:CRIMAP
