QTL Experiment in Brief |
Animals: | Animals were Romney, Coopworth, and Perendale sheep, or a composite of these breeds. |
Breeds associated:
|
Design: | Animals were genotyped using either the Illumina OvineSNP50 BeadChip (with data imputed to HD) or the Ovine Infinium HD SNP BeadChip, and GWAS was performed for susceptibility to facial eczema, determined by serum concentration of the enzyme gamma-glutamyltransferase 21 days after sporidesmin challenge. A total of 481,400 SNPs were used for analysis. |
Analysis: | Two methods were used for GWAS: 1) an Efficient Mixed-Model Association eXpedited (EMMAX) analysis using a kinship matrix was performed on log-transformed serum GGT levels, and 2) genotype association tests were performed on the residuals obtained from ASReml after fitting recorded pedigree and the fixed effect of the contemporary group. |
