Title:
Genome-wide association study identifies variants associated with AFS and GL in Danish Yorkshire pig population
The productivity per sow per year (PSY) has key impact
on the economic benefits in swine industry.1 Age at first
service (AFS) and gestation length (GL) are the two important
components of PSY.2,3 Previous QTL studies and
GWASs have identified the genomic regions and SNPs that
are associated with AFS and GL in different pig breed populations,
but have not been reported in the Danish population.
Danish Yorkshire pigs are distinguished by their
ability to produce large litters of piglets and may have
genetic differences from other breeding population. Thus,
the purpose of this study was to identify AFS- and GL-related
variants and candidate genes in the Danish Yorkshire
pig population using GWAS.
