User setups for using Otterlace

  • Step 1:
    To apply for an Otterlace users account from Sanger, try: http://www.sanger.ac.uk/perl/ssomanager?action=requestcreate
    Then send a message to anacode@sanger.ac.uk, requesting permission to annotate the pig genome.
  • Step 2:
    Download Otterlace for your computer: ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub2/jgrg/ (available for Linux [32/64 bit] or Mac)

    You are all set if you are successful up to this point. Congratulations! [STOP]

    If not, go on with this Alternative: Using a Microsoft Window's computer to remotely logon the NAGRP server to use the Otterlace installed there.

    • Step 2.1 Register with this form so that we can set up an user account for you:

      Other notes:

    • Step 2.2
      Establish remote GUI connection with the NAGRP server.

      • For Microsoft Windows computer, use Xming to bring remote Otterlace in X-Window to your desk top.
      • From Linux/Mac console terminal, you can directly ssh to the NAGRP server (this method has not been tested).
    • Step 2.3
      Launch Otterlace:
      unix> /usr/local/otterlace/otterlace &
