Dear Colleagues,

Apologies for the late notice, but we’d like to inform you about a webinar on
"Genomic assessment of genetic variation and the future of the breed concept".
This represents the culmination of collaborative work by a diverse group of
experts from institutions from all around the world to prepare materials for
a sub-chapter in the upcoming Third Report on the State of the World's Animal
Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. If you have any questions, please
contact Gabor Meszaros gabor.meszarosboku.ac.at

The webinar will be held online TOMORROW 12.12.2024 (Thursday) from 14.00 to
15.30 CET (GMT+1). Please follow this link to join:
https://bokuvienna.zoom.us/j/68164494778

There is no registration required. The meeting will be open about 10 minutes
before the designated start.

Note: This is a webinar-style meeting, so only the invited panelists will
appear on screen and be able to speak. But we’d love for you to join the
conversation in the chat!

The agenda of the webinar will consist of 5 invited talks, about 12 minutes
each, followed by a joint discussion session.

The schedule for the talks is as follows:

1) Use of genomic data in the framework of monitoring and improving animal
genetic resources (AnGR): from Microsatellites to SNP and Sequence
   (Alessandra Stella, IBBA CNR, Italy)
2) A screenshot of the pangenome (Alexander Leonard, ETH Zurich,
   Switzerland)
3) Genomic indicators of diversity within and between breeds (Gábor Mészáros,
   BOKU University, Austria)
4) Practical use of genomic data in breed management and conservation (Jack
Windig, Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands)
5) Will the concept of breed change in the future? (Maria Wurzinger, Iowa
   State University, USA)

We look forward to welcoming you to this engaging webinar and hope you’ll
join us for what promises to be an insightful discussion on the future of
genetic resources and breed concepts.

Best regards,

The Subchapter Team
