We are looking for a PhD candidate to join the Computational Biology team
to work on integrating GxExM into genomic prediction. Please let me know if
you are interested (ruidong.xiang agriculture.vic.gov.au).
Modelling GxExM to improve genomic prediction in dairy cattle (HDR13) The
PhD project will drive new analyses, includingbut not limited to
developing a mechanistic model, to incorporateGxExM into genome-wide
analyses and/or prediction. The traits to be studied include feed
efficiency, animal health and resilience. The student will use existing
phenotype data to fit/calibrate the model and link them with the cows
genotype. The hypothesis is that by incorporatingadditional GxExM
information, the accuracy of genomic prediction will increase.
Benefits: Prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) training centre
scholarship, $AUD37,000 per year for up to 4 years. International travel
support $AUD5000 per year; relocation assistance ~$AUD2000; plus: working
with an excellent team that has a strong track record in animal
quantitative genetics (Birthplace for genomic selection, 1000 Bull Genome,
BayesR, Sustainability Index, FAETH score, Bovine Long-read consortium,
etc).
