Context :

The “Pôle de Lanaud”, next to Limoges, is the headquarters of the
Limousin breed. It includes a biotechnology company, specialized in
genomics applied to animal selection and the national qualification
station. Genetics from the French breeding programme is a world
reference.

The goal of the biotechnology structure is to carry out genomic projects
and develop selection tools to help breeders evaluate the genetic
potential of cattle.

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to expand our team in
Limoges, France. This is a full-time permanent position and is
available immediately.

The project will include the following tasks:

- Development and Implementation of genomic prediction model.
Development of statistical / computational methodology for the analysis
of genetic and genomic datasets. Genome bioinformatics analysis.

- Development and maintenance of data analysis pipelines. Quality control
for results production.

- Scientific monitoring, Summarize and communicate results. Writing reports.

Requirements:

- Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics or Computational Biology. A first
successful experience in genomics is an asset.

- Strong programming skills in one programming language are required.
Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, Fortran, R), programming
languages (e.g. Java, C/C++) and database management system are a plus.

- Good expertise in predictive and Bayesian statistics. Ability to apply
concepts of quantitative genetics (BLUP) is appreciated.

- Knowledge in mathematics (Matrix computations) or statistics (linear
regression, predictive statistics, factorial analysis, PCA, graph theory,
machine learning, Bayesian and Likelihood inferences) will be
appreciated.

- Solid knowledge of spoken and written English and basics in French with
strong motivation to learn.
