We are looking for outstanding candidates to work on the analysis and
integration of genomic and epigenetic data generated by the Functional
Annotation of Animal Genomes (FAANG) projects to evaluate putative
cis-regulatory regions and their potential impact on trait phenotypes.
The successful candidate will lead projects and participate as part of
a team of geneticists and bioinformaticians within the Animal Breeding
and Genetics group at Iowa State University.

Requirements:
• Motivated PhD in bioinformatics, genetics, or a related field with
previous experience with Next Generation Sequencing data analysis
and/or experience in genomic selection.
• Excellent knowledge of current best practices in epigenetic and
transcriptomic data analysis
• Proficient in UNIX and R programming as well as high-performance
computing
• Computer programming skills with some experience in at least at least
one scripting language (e.g., Python, Perl, Julia, or comparable
language)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Documented excellence in verbal and written communication in English
• Both a good team member and independent player
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in comparative genomic data analysis and/or genomic
breeding value estimation
• Experience deploying web applications on a server
• Experience with MySQL database software
Initial appointment will be for 1 year with opportunity for extension
with satisfactory performance. Payment will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
